Bioimmersive is a studio and lab dedicated to developing immersive experiences for organizations championing environmental causes, tackling interconnected social issues, and fostering connections with the natural world.

We support the work of values-aligned organizations whose mission is to advance our collective well-being.

Members of our team have provided XR solutions for a number of companies and organizations including Nike, Intel, Meta, Yamaha, La Biennale di Venezia and the Portland Art Museum.

Our Team

  • Chief Executive Officer | Co-Founder

    Tendisai Cromwell is a Toronto-based multidisciplinary designer and researcher with a focus on interactive and immersive experiences. She provides UX research services to a college and leads the UX design for an environmentally-focused virtual reality experience.

    Drawing inspiration from the natural world, Tendisai is a committed student and practitioner of nature-inspired design, employing strategies and principles found in the nature to solve design problems. Under the guidance of biomimicry practitioners, she has explored the application of this design process to virtual reality.

    Tendisai comes to immersive tech and UX after a long and varied career in the arts. She served as an executive director of a film festival and most recently immersed herself in the creative lives of artists as the host of a community podcast. She, herself, is a visual artist and lifelong writer of fiction and essays. Tendisai has and continues to engage in artistic and creative collaborations, often involving nature.

  • Chief Technology Officer | Co-Founder

    Joshua Alan Young is a Hawaii-based XR expert with over a decade of experience. Most recently, Joshua held the role of Lead 3D Innovation Engineer within Nike's Tech Innovation Office, where he oversaw internal XR/Spatial Computing initiatives. He forged key partnerships, including a research partnership with Microsoft exploring advanced body avatars, and an exclusive collaboration with Apple for early access to the Apple Vision Pro headset. He led a team building an internal design tool for the Vision Pro, during which Apple took a strong interest. 

    Before joining Nike, Joshua founded Reflective, a creative agency specializing in immersive technology. He dedicated nearly a decade to developing custom augmented and virtual reality solutions for diverse clientele. During this time he worked with major brands including Intel, Yamaha, Meta, Nike, and others, while leading a global team of developers, 3D artists, UI/UX designers, and cloud engineers. Reflective was acquired in 2021.

  • Chief Strategy Officer | Co-Founder

    Sharon Cromwell is a seasoned strategist based in Brooklyn, NY. She has nearly fifteen years of experience working on social change issues, including economic, social and climate policy.  She's led local, statewide and federal legislative, corporate and electoral campaigns with regional and national labor unions and political parties, and advocacy organizations. Sharon has honed her skills as a systems thinker, campaigner and organizational leader with an enthusiasm for building teams and translating ideas into action.
